Soft Pretzel Bites : In The Bread Machine

On my way to 100 recipes in 100 days.  Here is recipe 52: Soft Pretzel Bites!

We just recently got a Pretzel Place in our mall.  Yes, that’s right….we were without.  Small town, small mall…..no Pretzel Place.  I am now hooked!  If I happen to need to stop at the mall, I always stop at lunch or snack time and enjoy a soft pretzel treat.

Soft Pretzel Bites

I like my pretzels with butter, salt, and nacho cheese.  This is why I have to exercise….I like the good stuff.  These pretzels were very easy to make.  I made the dough in the bread machine and then enlisted my two toddlers in helping me roll out the ropes and shaping the bites.  It was a game for them and productive for me.  We all then enjoyed the results.  I am surprised I was able to get two good pictures without toddlers in them.

Soft Pretzel Bites

1 â…› cup water (70-80 degrees)

3 ¼ cup flour

3 tablespoon brown sugar

1 ½ teaspoon active dry yeast

2 Qts water

½ cup baking soda

melted butter

coarse kosher salt

1. Add water, flour, brown sugar, and yeast in bread machine pan in order.  Run machine on dough cycle.

2. Turn dough out on to a floured surface and cut in to 8 pieces.  Roll each piece in to a 12 inch rope and cut in to bite size pieces.  Roll each piece in to a ball.

3. Bring 2 Qts water and ½ cup baking soda to a boil.  Boil the pretzel bites 5 at a time for 10 seconds.  Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a greased cookie sheet.

4. Bake pretzels at 425 for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.  Brush with melted butter, and sprinkle with salt.

Enjoy!!

  5. Hi, I was just wondering, is it possible to make these ahead of time and freeze them? Or are they best fresh?

  6. Those pretzels look yummy and your dip looks tempting too. It's time to take out the bread machine and do some awesomeness in the kitchen. I'm also trying those Triple Berry Strudel Muffins. I'm more of a muffin person I should say 🙂 Great blog!

    1. Thanks for stopping by Amanda! The pretzel bites are my kids favorite afternoon snack. I'm sure they would love if I made them more. And those muffins are a great choice. My mom makes them at our church camp and they are always gone in a hurry.

  7. Such a yummy recipe!!! Will be making these again and again! I made half savory and half sweet. For the savory, I tossed the hot pretzel bites with garlic and parmesan and for the sweet pretzels, I drizzled with honey and sprinkled with cinnamon. Delicious!

    1. Oh ma goodness!! I love the idea of making them savory and sweet. I will for sure be trying that next time. Thanks for sharing.

  8. These pretzel balls are amazing!! Thank you 🙂 will be added to my personal recipe box. And the nacho cheese dip... 100% better than store bought, and so nice to know what's going into my food. Awesome recipes!

  9. OMG! I never leave comments but cook from the web all the time. Had to leave one here though. I made these soft pretzel bites for the first time tonight (first time I've tried to make anything like this.) and tasted one. They are the best! I imagined a HUGE disaster but it was a pleasant and smooth experience. Thank you for posting this recipe. And, if you have any tips on how to stop making them daily let me know.

  10. The bread producing device or even bread manufacturer is a house machine for the purpose of cooking bread. It all includes a bread skillet or even "tin" at the end of which are usually a number of integrated paddles, installed in the heart of a little special-purpose stove. This particular little range is usually managed with a simple integrated computer, the particular configurations for which are usually put at a the control panel. Many bread devices have various cycles for various types of dough—including whitened bread, wholegrain, European-style occasionally branded "French", plus dough-only for the purpose of pizzas funds plus designed loaves cooked within a standard stove. Many also provide the timer to permit the particular bread device in order to set off without having owner presence, plus some expensive versions permit the consumer in order to plan a custom made cycle. use Bread Machines

  11. Yes, my machine allows it to raise for about an hour at the end. The dough will need to rise to double after kneading. Enjoy!

  12. Does your bread machine allow the dough to rise when using the dough setting? I don't think mine does...only mixes and kneads...so I am thinking I would need to allow this to rise about an hour or until doubled?

  13. Just what my hubby would love when it comes to March Madness! Thanks for the recipe, XOXO
